Seasonal Wood Blocks

Despite my husband's eye rolling, I love decorating my house for every season and occasion. I usually purchase new decor after the event in question when things are on sale but even then my purchases have the potential to add up quickly. So imagine my excitement when I found the idea for Seasonal Wood Blocks, 7 blocks that spell out 16+ words and can be used over and over for almost every occasion!

Via Brown Paper Packages

Via Nap Time Crafts
To make the blocks you'll need:
  • 7 4-inch wooden blocks - you can either buy blocks at a craft store or cut up a 4x4 post from your local hardware store
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint
  • Vinyl Letters -  any font you choose but make sure that they are either all upper or lower case because you'll be changing the order of the blocks around
Sand the rough edges of your blocks and then paint them. Try to pick a colour that matches your home's decor since you'll have these blocks out all year. Once they are dry affix the letters in the following configuration:

Block 1- H, Y, E, D
Block 2- A, C, R, S
Block 3- R, P, E, T
Block 4- V, N, L, O
Block 5- E, O, M, D
Block 6- S, M, K, I
Block 7- T, F, B, W

When you're finished you'll be able to use some or all of the letters to spell out these words (and more if you get creative!):
Harvest
Welcome
Friends
Faith
Family
Spooky
Winter
Freedom
Blessed
Snow
Home
Hope
Monster
Mother
Dream
Easter

This is such a quick and easy project that is incredibly useful. I can't wait to make a set of these for my living room!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my handmade card giveaway before the Thursday deadline!
